The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) has reported the state’s casino and sports betting activity for January 2026, with total gaming revenue reaching $179m during the monthly period, equating to a decrease of 6.9%. 

Retail casinos in Massachusetts produced $96.6m of combined revenue during January 2026, representing a fall of 1.4% year-over-year. Encore Boston Harbor led all retail gaming establishments in Massachusetts by generating $59.7m of casino revenue for January 2026 but decreased 2.9%. 

MGM Springfield and Plainridge Park Casino generated January 2026 casino revenues of $22.8m and $14.1m, respectively, equating to an increase of 0.2% for the MGM Resorts International property and 2.8% growth for Plainridge Park Casino. 

Total slot revenue reported by the three properties increased 5.4% to $69.8m during January 2026, while Massachusetts’ table game revenue decreased 15.4% from the prior year period to just over $26.8m. 

Sports wagering revenue in Massachusetts, which authorizes both retail and online operations, totaled $82.4m for January 2026, representing a decrease of 12.7%.

Online sports wagering revenue fell 12.3% to nearly $82.1m, with DraftKings accounting for $44.8m of the vertical’s total revenue but decreasing 13.5%. 

FanDuel was second in Massachusetts online sports betting revenue after generating $23.2m of revenue, equating to a fall of 19.5%.

Fanatics sportsbook and BetMGM accounted for $5.7m and $4.5m of the state’s total online sports wagering revenue for January 2026, respectively, equating to an increase of 61% for the Fanatics-led vertical but a 17% fall for BetMGM. 

Taxable gaming revenue for retail sports betting operations totaled just $302,715 and fell by 61.1% year-over-year. Massachusetts’ total sports wagering handle for January 2026 was just over $808.9m, representing a 6.1% increase despite the revenue decreases witnessed during the full-year period.
