Workers at Casino Rinconada, located in Los Andes, Chile, voted on a legal strike on March 4 after collective bargaining negotiations with operator Casinos de Chile stalled, escalating tensions between management and the venue’s workforce.

The Sindicato Casino Rinconada, which represents 341 employees, roughly 90% of the casino’s total workforce, said the company failed to present satisfactory proposals during negotiations.

Union representatives cited several unresolved issues, including the preservation of previously acquired benefits, compensation for night shifts and improvements to work equipment and uniforms used by employees in different roles. 

Workers also raised concerns about the impact of mass layoffs in 2025, when approximately 300 employees were dismissed as part of the company’s restructuring process.

The strike vote was held throughout March 4, with workers ultimately approving the legal strike late that evening. The decision could disrupt operations at Casino Rinconada, one of the main entertainment and tourism venues in the Aconcagua Valley, located about 80 kilometers north of Santiago.

The dispute comes as Casinos de Chile continues to navigate a complex transition following the judicial reorganization of the former Enjoy group, after which several of its casino assets were transferred to creditor control.

Labor tensions have affected other properties operated by the company in recent months. In October 2025, administrative workers at Casinos de Chile also staged a strike after collective bargaining talks failed to reach an agreement.

The situation highlights the challenges facing operators undergoing financial restructuring while attempting to stabilize labor relations and maintain uninterrupted operations at licensed casino venues.
