The United Arab Emirates lottery has entered the physical space, opening its first land-based venue in the country for players to purchase lottery draw tickets.
Having launched in December 2024, the UAE Lottery was initially available only to online players. Now, the opening of a physical shop in Musaffah, Abu Dhabi, means that players aged 18 and over can purchase tickets in person for games such as Lucky Day Draw and Pick 3 for the first time.
According to Gulf News, the UAE Lottery said: “From bold visuals to intuitive layouts, every detail has been considered to make the customer journey smooth and engaging. High-visibility signage and an open, welcoming interior support consistent footfall, while interactive displays and helpful staff ensure each visit is both informative and enjoyable.”
The lottery also expressed its commitment to responsible gambling, with customer service staff available to assist players, while all games will be regulated by the country’s regulator, the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority.
“The UAE Lottery provides a range of tools and resources to help participants make informed choices, ensuring a safe, fun, and fair lottery environment.”
The opening of a land-based lottery venue in the UAE comes as several casino operators continue to build their own casino establishments.
MGM Resorts International‘s Chief Executive Officer, Bill Hornbuckle, recently stated that the operator is looking forward to the potential of its non-gaming management agreement to bring the firm’s Bellagio, Aria, and MGM Grand brands to the region alongside Wasl Hospitality in Dubai, as it could be the site of a future casino in the region.
Hornbuckle commented: “It’s not our project, so it’s on behalf of the Wasl that’s to do the construction of it and the capital of it. But it is a platform for a casino someday.
“Longer term, we’re excited by particularly where the airport is and where it’s going. We think Dubai is the marketplace there. We’re comfortable just having a management agreement to manage something we think is a real brand extender for now, and we’ll see.”
Meanwhile, Wynn Resorts is building the country’s first regulated casino resort in Ras Al Khaimah, Wynn Al Marjan Island, where work has recently resumed after a pause due to the conflict in the Middle East.
